Covert Ottawa Weekly Update: Ottawa Events September 9th – 15th

Good Monday morning!! School is back in, and summer holidays are over, and with fall approaching, we’re entering into the colder months of weather and events in Ottawa. Festival season is still holding on, but it’s only got a couple weeks left.

This week is the final major music festival of the season with Cityfolk Festival starting Thursday and running for four days at TD Place. Bands include the Strumbellas, Live, Our Lady Peace, Dear Rouge, Bush, and Robert Plant among many others. Associated with Cityfolk, you can see tons of live music through the MARVEST event which is a series of local concerts at venues up and down bank street.

I have to admit, I made a mistake a few weeks ago. There was a rib-fest on and I had stated that it was your last time to get your rib on….well, this week  is actually your last time! Orleans Ribfest is on this weekend at the Centrum plaza. It runs Friday through Sunday.

You don’t need a festival for some decent concerts though. This week you can see Alanna Stirling playing again at the Queen Street Fare on Wednesday night, Sleep with Pontiac at Algonquin Commons Theatre on Thursday night, Cody Coyote at the NAC on Friday, and Buffy Sainte-Marie also at the NAC on Sunday night.

Hockey is back!! At least the pre-season. The Ottawa Senators host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night for their first home pre-season game. Then, to pump up the fan base again (because we all know that it needs it), the Sens Fan Fest 2019 takes place on Saturday at the Canadian Tire Centre.

At the Gladstone Theatre, “An Act of Grace” starts on Monday and runs until Friday with daily performances at 7:30pm.

A full list of this week’s events can be found here!!

Where will I be??

What a busy weekend that was!! This week is going to be no different. I’ll be at Cityfolk from Thursday right until the end on Sunday night. I love this festival, and I love the grounds. TD Place offers such a great venue with the different indoor/outdoor options.

Announcements:

Thanks everyone who entered the contest to win festival passes to Cityfolk. There were many entries on all social media platforms, but my “hidden entry” experiment worked. Two weeks ago, before the contest, I put right here in the weekly update announcement section that anyone who commented that they were interested in the festival passes would receive two free entries. One of those entries was the randomly drawn entry. Congrats to Brett Stoner for reading my post and commenting!!

I attended the musical Falsettos last week by Orpheus Musical Theatre, and it was great! You can read the review by clicking here!

There’s a fantastic event this week, and from what I can see, there are still tickets available. This is a night at the museum event at the Museum of Nature. Nature Sleepover for Adults is an overnight experience that has so many activities, and it looks like so much fun!! It includes a drink, a great meal and then a huge list of possible activities that all look like a blast! If it was any other weekend other than Cityfolk, I would be there! I hope it does well and they run it again! You can see all the details here.

If you’re hosting an event in the future, I offer advertising and promotion packages…please click on: Promote your Event on the main menu for details. I now also offer the ability to sell your event tickets through my site at a competitive price so why not stay local!! Please contact me for more information as I have many promotional packages available that can be tailored to your needs. I also offer an array of event services for all types of events. My network is regularly expanding, and I’d be happy to connect you with the services that you’ll need to make your event a success!!
