“Lest We Forget”
Today is November 11th, Remembrance Day, so let’s please make time to remember the veterans who have died and/or suffered through multiple wars in order to define who we are as Canadians and enshrine the values that we have in our lives today. There are several opportunities throughout the city to take part in a Remembrance Day ceremony. I know it’s going to be cold, but it is important to get out and take part.
This week seems to be the kickoff to the Christmas season, there are so many markets popping up all over the city, with too many to mention individually on this post. Have a look at the events calendar to get a listing of some of the larger markets throughout the city. There are two Santa Claus parades this weekend though!! The Kanata parade takes place on Saturday at Hazeldean Mall, and then after a sleep, Santa makes his way to Barrhaven for their annual parade on Strandherd Drive on Sunday. Plan ahead to make sure you get a good spot and bring your loonies!!
The Ottawa Senators have only one game in town this week. Thursday night, the Philadelphia Flyers are here at the Canadian Tire Centre. The Colonel By Classic takes place this week also on Thursday night at TD Place. This is the annual hockey game between U Ottawa and Carleton U. Ottawa beat up on Carleton during the Panda Match (football), so let’s see who takes round two!

There are plenty of concerts to see in Ottawa this week. Wednesday night features Moist at the Bronson Centre, and the Abrams are at the TapRoom in Orleans. Thursday night, PIGS: Canada’s Pink Floyd are at Shenkman Arts Centre, and Ambush can be seen Friday and Saturday nights at the Rideau Carleton Raceway.
