Happy Monday! Now that we’ve all survived our first major snow storm of the year, we can get on with our lives and take in some of the incredible events throughout the city this week. It’s a great mix of events in all corners of the city, including some great community winter festivals such as Shiverfest in Manotick, and the Dovercourt Winter Carnival at….you guessed it….Dovercourt! The Ottawa Home and Remodelling Show is on for four days at the EY Centre, and DJ Pauly D is in town Friday.
This week in theatre, Will Somers: Last Will and Testament is continuing with its third and final week at The Gladstone Theatre. At Ottawa Little Theatre, The Roommate is also finishing up its run, and new this week at the GCTC, you can see Kiinalik: These Sharp Tools, which will be running most days for the next three weeks.
It’s a little quieter on the ice this week as the Senators have a bye week leading into the All-Star break this coming weekend. The skills competition will be Friday, and the big game of ridiculousness will be Saturday. Does anyone still take this seriously? The Ottawa 67’s, however, have two home games this week; on Saturday afternoon, the Niagara Ice Dogs are in town, and on Sunday afternoon, the Saginaw Spirit are visiting TD Place.
Concert Pick(s) of the Week!
It’s a pretty exciting and diverse week for concerts this week. Normally I like to just pick one or two to highlight, so I struggled to limit my choices! My top pick would have to be on Thursday night at Shenkman Arts Centre, where the Crash Test Dummies will be playing with Damhnait Doyle. I love the Crash Test Dummies!! I am pretty sure I even had their cassette when I was growing up (remember those?). Second up is Disco Inferno at the Brass Monkey on Friday night. They are so much fun!! If you’ve never seen them, you don’t know what you’re missing. Even if you don’t like disco, you should go out with an open mind and just soak up the raw talent, and enjoy the energy that this amazing band draws from the crowd.
Event Highlight of the Week!
Friday night is the long anticipated annual Faces Awards of Ottawa! I purchased my tickets early; the hotel room is booked, and dinner reservations are made. I love this event and attend it every year! Don’t forget to vote for me!! Voting will be open until the 23rd at noon! You can vote once per day. I’m up for Ottawa’s Best Promoter/Organizer (in the events category), Best Blogger and Best Influencer (in the Digital and Social Category). I’d really appreciate your votes!
Where will I be?
As mentioned, Friday night is the annual Faces Awards, so I’m saving up my energy to attend that. What an amazing event!
