Halloween in Ottawa: A Month of Events and Activities For All!

Hi there! It’s October, and time for my annual Halloween Activities listing. As usual, this list is live and will be updated as I discover more events around Ottawa. If you are hosting an event and wish for it to be added, send me the details! Check back often and make the best of the haunting season!

In the past, I’ve itemized this post by region, but this one is done chronologically beginning with the longer running/recurring events and the start, then it becomes date specific further down. Hopefully it’s not too overwhelming!!

Ongoing/Recurring Events for October

Saunders Farm Day Time “Pumpkin Days”

Dates/Times: September 23rd – October 31st (Saturdays/Sundays only) 10:00am – 5:00pm

Location: Saunders Farm, 7893 Bleeks Road, Munster Hamlet ON


For over 30 AMAZING years, Pumpkin Season at Saunders Farm has been a Canadian family tradition. With tons of outdoor attractions available, including wagon rides, live shows, puppet shows, mild haunts, a parade, hedge mazes, choosing your perfect pumpkin, and so much more, it’s a spook-tacular experience for the whole family!

Tickets need to be purchased in advance. Arrival times are available every 30 minutes, with limited capacity per time slot. Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before your scheduled arrival time. We recommend planning to spend 3-4 hours at the farm to enjoy all of the amazing activities.

ATTRACTIONS: Jumbo Jumpers, Mazes (Mile Maze, Spiral Maze, Musical Maze & Cedar Maze), Maze Observation Tower, Play Structures, Puppet Show, Pumpkin Patch Wagon Ride, Haunted Hayride (mild scares), The Coven, piles of pumpkins and gourds to pick-your-own, Outdoor Patio, food, drinks, sweets & treats, home decor and more at the Farmshop.

Zipline requirements are 44inchs and 60-250 pounds.  Zipline is not included in admission price. Children 2 & under are free and do not require a ticket.

Saunders Farm Night Time “Fright Fest”

Frightfest at Saunders Farm is Canada’s #1 Haunted Attraction with multiple haunts, street theater, delicious food, Saunders Cider, and homemade confections; it is sure to thrill!

TICKETS: One ticket/person. Groups are minimum 20 guests.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. Each ticket will give you access to the farm with entrance to each haunt one time. Ticket holders are not guaranteed to visit all attractions. Tickets are date and time specific and sold in 30 minute increments. Limited number of tickets per timeslot.  Tickets are non-refundable.

Pumpkinferno at Upper Canada Village

Location: Upper Canada Village, 13740 County Road #2, Morrisburg ON


Take an after-dark tour through a spectacular outdoor exhibit of over 7,000 artistically designed and hand carved pumpkins. This multi-award-winning event takes visitors through a mesmerizing world of illuminated pumpkins, all beautifully displayed in a myriad of eclectic themes along the streets and paths of Upper Canada Village’s historic landscape. New exhibits are added each year. Harvest dining, plus seasonal treats, shopping, and kids play stations add to the experience. Open select nights from late September through October. Limited date-specific tickets. Book online ahead for your preferred night!

Pumpkins After Dark

Dates/Times: Thursday – Sunday Nights, Various times (select your time when you buy a ticket) between 6:30pm and 9:30pm start time

Location: Westley Clover Park, 401 Corkstown Road, Ottawa ON


Explore the magical pathway of lit pumpkin sculptures and displays, with music, sounds and special effects. With classic Halloween characters, dinosaurs and dragons, movie and pop culture icons – this family friendly event has something for everyone. Make Pumpkins After Dark your new annual tradition!

The Butcher’s Ghost

Acres of Terror

Cannamore Orchard welcomes you to our 31st year of Acres of Terror, Eastern Ontario’s Most Terrifying Halloween attraction! We are proud to present this in co-operation with the students from École secondaire catholique Embrun.  Please read below to see more information on our attractions for 2023 season.

The Sawmill at Lansdowne

Dates/Times: October 13th – 31st Various Times (See Link)

Location: All of Westboro (See Link)


Located on the south court outside the Aberdeen Pavilion, in Lansdowne, get ready for a spooky and interactive haunt this October. Opening on Friday, October 13, and running until Halloween night, get ready to walk through the creepiest haunt in downtown Ottawa. Grab a bite to eat at one of our food trucks or our Saunders Farm confections (did somebody say kettle corn?). Stop at the Saunders Cider bar for a drink before your experience, and warm up by the heaters and fires as you watch performers juggle fire and play a mean fiddle before you head out!

Wickedly Westboro

Dates/Times: October 13th – 31st Various Times (See Link)

For over a decade spooky, safe and fun has been had along Richmond Road. From October 13th to 31st you can take part in our scavenger hunt. It’s easy! Find the Wickedly Westboro spooky buds in business windows throughout Westboro Village, share with us and be entered to win one of TEN gift bags filled with haunted Halloween treats from Westboro Village businesses. Hammond Hill Haunted Forest Walk

Dates/Times: October 27/28/29 8:00pm – 10:00pm

Location: Hammond Hill, 861 Du Golf Road, Hammond ON


Haunted forest walk at Hammond Hill. This event is outdoors and not for the faint of heart! Walk lasts about 15 minutes through various scary sites. Children under 12 will not be admitted. No flashlights allowed.

Saturday October 7th

Spooky and Wednesday

Dates/Times: October 7/8 11:00am – 4:00pm

Location: Carlingwood Shopping Centre,


Spooky and Wednesday are haunting the Carlingwood Shopping Centre for spooktacular Halloween festivities on October 7 and October 8 🎃 Saturday, October 7th: Come face-to-face with viral favourite, “Wednesday” Sunday, October 8th: Carlingwood’s beloved favourite “Spooky” is swapping Christmas for a Halloween surprise! From 11am to 4pm, join us in Centre Court for a Halloween celebration with a face painting station, balloon artist and glitter tattoo artist for all ages! Sponsored by A&W.

Friday October 27th

Halloween Mascaraed Ball

Time: October 27th 7:00pm – 11:00pm

Location: DQ Ballroom and Latin Dance Studio, 1160 Maitland Drive, Ottawa ON


Join us on Friday, October 27th for another one of our quarterly dance performances and party. 6:30pm: Doors open, 7pm: Start Performances, 8:30pm: Dance Party

Tickets are now available for presale at $25 for adults and $15 for kids 16 and under. Tickets at the door will be $30 for adults and $20 for kids. Remember to dress up for Halloween as we will have a best costume contest. Non-alcoholic beverages and treats will be available.

Saturday October 28th

Halloween Pet Costume Contest and Fundraiser

Time: October 28th 10:00am – 3:00pm

Location: Healthy Pets HQ, 420 Bank Street


Ottawa Kitten Rescue and Healthy Pets HQ are hosting: Halloween Pet Costume Contest and Fundraiser!

Bring your pet dressed in their best Halloween costume to Healthy Pets HQ and enter our contest. We’ll take a photo of your pet, and it will be posted at the end of the event. The picture with the most likes will win a prize! Prizes will be awarded for first and second place. We also have trick-or-treat goodie bags available for dogs and cats, along with some treats for the humans. Come by and show your support! We’re offering OKR treat jars, OKR T-shirts, OKR tote bags, greeting cards, catnip pouches, and more for sale.

Ottawa Mystic Market

If you’re searching for unique and magical items, the Mystic Market is the place for you!  This market is specifically designed for those with an interest in the metaphysical.

Wickedly Westboro Trick or Treating

Time: 1-4

Get your kids dressed up and head down to Westboro Village! Find our trick-or-treating stations sprinkled throughout the neighbourhood. Each one will have candy and unique entertainment:

While strolling the street, you can check out the creativity of our businesses in their pumpkin carving skills, and look for these signs to know it is a great place to stop and give an excellent old shout-out of “TRICK OR TREAT”.!

Day of the Dead Festival

Dates/Times: October 28 4:00pm – 10:00pm

The Day of the Dead Festival 2023” A Celebration of Life” is an opportunity to experience the Mexican and Central American celebrations for our departed ones in a lively and meaningful way in the heart of Canada. Films at the Fieldhouse: Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein

“It’s alive! ALIVE!” With those words, a movie monster was born. From the pages of Mary Shelley’s classic horror story came Frankenstein to terrorize filmgoers in 1931! We present the original film paired with its – some say – better sequel, Bride of Frankenstein for the ultimate monster mashup! (Note, some scenes may be frightening to younger children)

Halloween Emocore 7 x Emo Night Ottawa

Sunday October 29th

Spooky Symphony: NACO Family Adventures

Dates/Times: October 29 3:30pm – 4:20pm

Location: NAC, Southam Hall, 1 Elgin Street, Ottawa ON


Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser (Principal Youth Conductor and Creative Partner), the NAC Orchestra and special guests bring spooky orchestral favourites  to life in a fang-tastic performance that will cast a spell on your Halloween.

Be sure to dress up with the NAC Orchestra for this Halloween concert—but park your broom at the door!

Halloween Corgi Parade

Dates/Times: October 29 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Location: 186 Sparks Street, Ottawa ON


It’s time for our annual Halloween Corgi Parade! We will gather on Sparks Street, outside of the CBC building, and parade towards Elgin Street. We will cross the street and finish at the Confederation Square to take a group photo. Spread the word and let’s show Ottawa how beautiful our corgis are! **If weather is not cooperating, the parade might be moved to Saturday Oct 28, 2023**

General reminders:
-Please let your corgis do their businesses before joining the parade
-Make sure to clean up if your corgis do poop on the street
-Follow the lead (Felix with Ottawa Corgi Sign, who will be dressed in a bright red corgi coat)
-Spectators please ask for permission before patting any dogs.
-Keep your corgis on leash
-Keep enough distance between corgis to avoid accidental conflicts

Rock’n Halloween Party Vol. 2 Featuring Ambush

Celebrate the spooky season with our Rock’n Halloween Party featuring Ambush! Get your costumes on and get in the Halloween spirit with Ambush live from The Joint. Plus join the costume contest with prizes for best individual costume, best group costume and best couple.

The Vampire Circus

Dates/Times: October 29 8:00pm – 11:00pm

Location: Algonquin Commons Theatre, 1385 Woodroffe Ave, Ottawa ON


The Vampire Circus will be performing for the first time at the ACT.
