March 7 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Lazzy Lung Brings Award-Winning Indie Rock to Overflow

Overflow, the esteemed haven for indie music aficionados, is gearing up to host a night of electrifying performances on Thursday, March 7th, featuring the acclaimed indie rock sounds of Ottawa’s own Lazzy Lung. With a rich history spanning nearly two decades, Lazzy Lung has captivated audiences around the globe, earning accolades and acclaim for their dynamic musical journey.

Originally hailing from Beirut, Lebanon, Lazzy Lung honed their craft in the vibrant music scene of the Middle East, leaving an indelible mark with their distinctive blend of rock melodies and heartfelt lyricism. Through three albums and numerous tours, including appearances documented in the 2013 film “Kids like you and Me” alongside the Black Lips, Lazzy Lung has carved out a unique space in the indie rock landscape.
Now based in Dunrobin, Ontario, Lazzy Lung continues to evolve their sound, infusing their music with a newfound sense of introspection and resilience. Their latest album, “Swim the Tide,” released in 2018, serves as a poignant tribute to the frontman’s mother, who battled cancer, inspiring profound personal growth and reflection within the band.

However, the band faced adversity in 2020 when a devastating port explosion rocked Beirut, affecting thousands, including Lazzy Lung’s drummer. This tragic event prompted the Ottawa native frontman to make the decision to return home, marking a significant chapter in the band’s journey.

With a current lineup featuring Craig Irvine on lead guitar, Simon Peterson on bass, Steve Parfitt on drums, and Allan Chaaraoui on rhythm guitar and vocals, Lazzy Lung brings a renewed sense of passion and energy to the stage. Their music, characterized by infectious hooks and poignant storytelling, resonates with audiences on a profound level, inviting listeners to embark on a sonic journey of self-discovery and resilience.

Overflow’s Indie Thursday promises to be a night to remember as Lazzy Lung takes center stage, delivering a powerhouse performance that showcases their unwavering commitment to their craft and their ability to transcend borders through the universal language of music. For fans of indie rock with depth and soul, Lazzy Lung’s performance is not to be missed.

Wet for Days

March 7th, will also feature the vibrant punk rock energy of Ottawa’s very own Wet for Days. This trio, affectionately known as the city’s punk rock mom band, has been causing quite a storm in the local scene since their inception just over a year ago.

Comprising Sarah Gott on guitar, Steph Leger on bass, and Deirdre Dooley on drums, Wet for Days delivers a high-octane performance that blends infectious melodies with thought-provoking lyricism. Their repertoire, characterized by fast-paced and catchy tunes, serves as a platform for advocating sex worker rights, embracing sexuality, and dismantling societal stigmas.

The members of Wet for Days bring with them a wealth of experience from Ottawa’s dynamic music scene. Sarah Gott, a veteran performer since 2010, has journeyed through various musical projects, including stints with RawRawRiot and touring Europe with The Brat Attack. Deirdre Dooley, with her background in Knives and Forks for Freedom and Cultural Treason, infuses the band’s sound with her eclectic rhythms. Steph Leger, known for her past endeavours with NeoNera and her recent success with Chick-182, brings her unmistakable bass lines to the mix.
Together, Wet for Days has shared the stage with illustrious acts such as D.O.A, Dayglo Abortions, and Guttermouth, showcasing their prowess and leaving audiences clamouring for more.

Despite juggling the responsibilities of parenthood – with a combined total of six kids among them – Wet for Days remains dedicated to their craft, driven by a shared passion for rock and roll and a desire to make a positive impact in an often challenging world.

Overflow’s Indie Thursday promises to be an electrifying evening, as Wet for Days takes the stage to deliver a performance that is equal parts raw energy and heartfelt conviction. For those seeking an unforgettable night of music and camaraderie, Wet for Days is a band not to be missed.
