DESCRIPTION:A collaboration between the Downtown BIA and the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC) is bringing local music to The Shed on Sparks Street  all summer long! The lunchtime concert series\, Songs from the Shed\, will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 12pm-1:30pm. Music lovers from the Ottawa region are invited to come enjoy lunch outdoors with a variety of captivating singer-songwriters in solo or duo formations. As the music journeys through moments of pastoral calm\, white-hot intensity\, and triumphant resilience\, what will you hear in Sibelius’s majestic symphony? \nHailed as a “once in a lifetime” talent (Toronto Star)\, Canadian violinist Blake Pouliot brings his signature showmanship to Dmitri Shostakovich’s First Concerto for solo violin and orchestra. Written for one of the composer’s closest friends\, the Ukraine-born violinist David Oistrakh\, Shostakovich’s concerto journeys from a shadowy world of fear and anxiety to a sarcastic dance teeming with wild energy. \nAnd Jocelyn Morlock’s My Name Is Amanda Todd honours the Canadian teenager who took her life in 2012 after suffering years of abuse and bullying\, both online and in school. DESCRIPTION:Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is one of the world’s most successful stand-up comedians and one of the highest grossing touring comedians of all time. He is one of the most watched comedians on YouTube with over 2 billion views and over 34.6 million fans across social media. He was the 3rd highest grossing comedian of 2024 according to Billboard. \nIglesias has been included in The Hollywood Reporter’s “Top 40 Comedy Players” issue alongside comedy giants Jerry Seinfeld\, Chris Rock and Lorne Michaels and was also honored with the cover of Variety’s comedy issue. The comedian has had the distinct honor of being one of the few to headline and sell-out Madison Square Garden in New York\, Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and The Sydney Opera House in Australia. \nOn TV\, Iglesias is the star and executive producer of the Netflix original comedy series\, Mr. Iglesias\, which is currently streaming 3 seasons. Iglesias plays a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater. He takes on teaching gifted but misfit kids to not only save them from being “counseled out” by a bully bureaucrat Assistant Principal\, but also to help them unlock their full potential. The show won best Primetime Comedy at The Imagen Awards\, which recognizes positive portrayals of Latino actors/actresses in the entertainment industry. \nIn addition to his comedy series\, Iglesias has released four stand-up comedy  specials with Netflix.
