DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Indigenous Sport\, Culture\, and Community \nThe 2025 Masters Indigenous Games\, open to Indigenous Peoples from around the world\, will take place from August 14-17 in the nation’s capital. Ottawa and the surrounding region is the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe people\, who have known and inhabited these lands for millennia. \nSports\nJoin or cheer on athletes competing in a variety of sports\, including: \n\n– Athletics\n– Archery\n– Arctic Sports\n– Basketball\n– Golf\n– Softball\n– Volleyball\n\nParticipation starts at just $121 per person\, and all sports are free for spectators to watch. Proof of Indigenous ancestry is required to compete in sports competitions. \nOpening Ceremonies\nKick off the Games with an unforgettable evening at the Opening Ceremonies on Thursday 14 August at 6pm\, more information to follow. \nCultural Village\nImmerse yourself in Indigenous culture at the Cultural Village\, open to the public throughout the Games. SUMMARY:Ottawa Greek Festival - 50th Anniversary!
DESCRIPTION:The Ottawa Greek Festival is put on by members of the Hellenic Community of Ottawa (HCO) every August to commemorate the Dormition of the Virgin Mary\, the namesake of our church\, which is celebrated on August 15th. During the Festival\, visitors get to experience delicious Greek cuisine\, live music\, and dancing. GreekFest is a tremendous undertaking and would not be possible were it not for HCO members that volunteer their time each year to ensure its success.
