SUMMARY:Carneiro\, Mozart & Goodyear
DESCRIPTION:A heartfelt work guided by the composer’s devout Protestant faith\, Felix Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” Symphony commemorates the 300th anniversary of the Presentation of the Augsburg Confession\, a pivotal event in the history of the Lutheran Church. Throughout this monumental work\, you’ll encounter music inspired by Renaissance masses\, religious processions\, and Johann Sebastian Bach chorales\, culminating in a triumphant finale based on Martin Luther’s famous hymn\, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.” \nAnd like Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” Symphony\, Magnus Lindberg’s Chorale pays tribute to music of faith—in this instance\, the Johann Sebastian Bach chorale “Es ist genug” (It Is Enough)\, whose theme becomes the foundation for a dazzling set of orchestral variations. \nCanadian pianist Stewart Goodyear—“one of the best of his generation” (Philadelphia Inquirer)—returns to the NAC Orchestra to perform Mozart’s Concerto No. 23 for piano and orchestra\, a joy-filled work of operatic lyricism the composer wrote at the same time as his madcap romantic comedy The Marriage of Figaro

DESCRIPTION:In a cultural landscape filled with endless pundits and talking heads\, Fran Lebowitz stands out as one of our most insightful social commentators. \nHer essays and interviews offer her acerbic views on current events and the media – as well as pet peeves\, including tourists\, baggage-claim areas\, after-shave lotion\, adults who roller skate\, or anyone who is unduly tan. The New York Times Book Review calls Lebowitz an “important humorist in the classic tradition.” Purveyor of urban cool\, Lebowitz is a cultural satirist whom many call the heir to Dorothy Parker. \nLebowitz on special interest groups: “Special-interest publications should realise that if they are attracting enough advertising and readers to make a profit\, the interest is not so special.” \nLebowitz on frankness: “Spilling your guts is exactly as charming as it sounds.” \nLebowitz on herself: “Success didn’t spoil me\, I’ve always been insufferable.” \nThis is Lebowitz off the cuff. Her writing — pointed\, taut and economical — is equally forthright\, irascible\, and unapologetically opinionated. \nLebowitz worked odd jobs\, such as taxi driving\, belt peddling\, and apartment cleaning (“with a small speciality in Venetian blinds”)\, before being hired by Andy Warhol as a columnist for Interview. That was followed by a stint at Mademoiselle. Her first book\, a collection of essays titled Metropolitan Life\, was a bestseller\, as was a second collection\, Social Studies. By turns ironic\, facetious\, deadpan\, sarcastic\, wry\, wisecracking\, and waggish\, Lebowitz’s prose is wickedly entertaining. Her two books are collected in The Fran Lebowitz Reader\, with a new preface by the author. The Fran Lebowitz Reader has been published in nine languages\, including French\, Korean\, Russian\, Spanish\, and Turkish. In 2021\, it was published for the first time in the United Kingdom and became a bestseller. Lebowitz is also the author of the children’s book\, Mr Chas and Lisa Sue Meet the Pandas. \nBetween 2001 and 2007\, Lebowitz had a recurring role as Judge Janice Goldberg on the television drama Law & Order. She also had a part in the Martin Scorsese-directed film\, The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). A raconteur if ever there was one\, Lebowitz has long been a regular on various talk shows\, including those hosted by Jimmy Fallon\, Conan O’Brien\, and Bill Maher. In an interview with the Paris Review\, Lebowitz said\, “I’m not a nervous person. I’m not afraid to be on TV. I’m only afraid when I write. When I’m at my desk\, I feel like most people would feel if they went on TV.” \nShe can also be seen in various documentary films\, including the American Experience series on New York City\, as well as Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures (2016)\, Regarding Susan Sontag (2014)\, and Superstar: The Life and Times of Andy Warhol (1990)\, among others. In 2010\, Martin Scorsese directed a documentary about Lebowitz for HBO titled Public Speaking. A limited documentary series\, Pretend It’s a City\, also directed by Martin Scorsese\, premiered on Netflix in 2021 and was nominated for the 2021 Emmys in the Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series category. In 2021\, she was given the Forte dei Marmi Festival della Satira Lifetime Achievement Award and was a 2021 Foreign Press Honorary Awardee – an award given by the Foreign Press Correspondents Association & Club USA. \nLebowitz was named to Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 2008. She remains a style icon. Lebowitz lives in New York City\, as she does not believe that she would be allowed to live anywhere else.

SUMMARY:Sooshi Mango
DESCRIPTION:Sooshi Mango are one of Australia’s most successful and beloved comedy acts\, created by brothers Joe and Carlo Salanitri and their close friend Andrew Manfre. What began just nine years ago as casual\, car-filmed comedy clips quickly grew into a cultural phenomenon. Their relatable\, character-driven humour—rooted in the experiences of immigrant families\, has earned them record-breaking live shows\, viral global reach\, and a devoted audience across Australia and beyond. \nThe trio has achieved unprecedented success in live entertainment\, becoming the only comedy act to sell out both Rod Laver Arena and Qudos Bank Arena multiple times (three and two consecutive sell-outs respectively). Their accolades include an AACTA Award for Favourite Australian Digital Comedy Creator and a feature role in the smash hit motion picture comedy\, Wog Boys Forever. Their transformative 2022 Off the Boat Tour sold over 125\,000 tickets across Australia and marked their international breakthrough\, with sell-out performances across North America (including Toronto\, New York\, Chicago\, Vancouver\, and Boston) and two sold-out shows in London. These appearances introduced their uniquely Australian\, ethnic-inspired comedy to new global audiences. \nDigitally\, Sooshi Mango has become a powerhouse\, amassing more than one billion video views and cultivating an online community of over 8 million followers worldwide! Their characters\, Johnny\, Vince\, and Sam\, along with Giuseppina\, Carmela\, and Angela – have become iconic tributes to migrant parents and grandparents\, blending affectionate parody with universal humour. They also hold the record for the most viral video ever produced in Australia\, with over 170 million views and counting. \nBeyond the stage and screen\, the trio has expanded their creative universe into hospitality and media. In 2023\, they opened Johnny\, Vince & Sam’s Ristorante on Melbourne’s Lygon Street\, bringing their characters into a theatrical dining environment. They launched the Sooshi Mango Podcast\, performed at the Dubai Comedy Festival\, and sold out the Palais Theatre twice while filming their first TV feature. \nThe years 2024 and 2025 marked continued growth with major collaborations and cultural recognition. Highlights include a creative partnership with The Wiggles\, a scheduled appearance at Carols in the Domain\, and progress toward expanding their restaurant brand with a new fast-food venture. Their appointment as the 2025 Moomba Monarchs stands as one of Melbourne’s highest cultural honours. \nTheir most ambitious live project to date\, the HOME MADE arena tour\, launched in 2024 and rapidly became a nationwide sensation. The initial tour required extensive additional dates due to overwhelming demand\, surpassing 30 arena shows across Australia. The 2025 HOME MADE ENCORE run added more than 15 additional shows\, many of which sold out immediately – together forming the largest and most successful touring era in the group’s history. \nLooking ahead\, Sooshi Mango will take HOME MADE international in 2026\, touring North America and Europe and further solidifying their place as a globally recognised comedy act. \nDon’t miss your chance to see Sooshi Mango live — the world tour is coming.

SUMMARY:Mozart\, Korngold & Bryan Cheng
DESCRIPTION:In one of his signature floods of inspiration\, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed his final three symphonies in six weeks\, culminating in the cosmic grandeur of his “Jupiter” Symphony. Showcasing everything Mozart learned over 24 years of composing symphonies\, the “Jupiter” Symphony sets the stage ablaze with triumphant brass fanfares\, operatic melodies\, and a thrilling finale in which five different melodies simultaneously dart across every corner of the orchestra. \nCanadian cellist Bryan Cheng showcases his “passionate lyricism” (Bachtrack) in Samy Moussa’s Ring—a work of spiky\, angular rhythms and breathtaking virtuosity—and Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Cello Concerto\, whose heartbreakingly beautiful melodies evoke the gilded glamour of film scores from Hollywood’s Golden Age. \nAnd Samuel Barber’s Overture to The School for Scandal captures the world of gossip\, social climbing\, and hilarious hijinks from Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s 18th-century play satirizing the upper crust of British society.

SUMMARY:Schubert’s Monumental Ninth Symphony
DESCRIPTION:The evening culminates in Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 9\, often called “The Great\,” a monumental work that expanded the scale and ambition of the symphony. From its open\, spacious horn calls to its propulsive rhythms and exhilarating final movement\, the Ninth unfolds as a long\, gripping journey that steadily gains momentum before landing in triumph. Bold\, expansive\, and deeply physical\, it is a symphony meant to be felt as much as heard. \nThe first half of the concert turns inward\, opening with French romantic miniatures that explore love\, longing\, and vulnerability. At the heart of this set is Hector Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été\, a cycle of songs that reveals the composer’s most intimate voice\, tender\, melancholic\, and quietly intense. Mezzo-soprano Julie Boulianne brings warmth and emotional clarity to these deeply human reflections on love and loss. \nCompleting the French half is Ophélie\, an evocative symphonic poem by Mel Bonis\, an atmospheric work that heightens the sense of drama and emotion before the orchestra expands fully for Schubert’s monumental symphonic finale.

SUMMARY:The National Ballet of Canada: Procession
DESCRIPTION:Singular multiplicity\nPartners and choreographers Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber are taking the dance world by storm. Known for their “uniquely expressive language of movements\, which range from the bright and angular to the jaunty and syncopated….” (LA Weekly)\, Smith and Schraiber’s intensely emotional works serve a double dose of ingenuity. \nTo open its 2025-2026 season\, The National Ballet of Canada has commissioned the pair to create a new full-length production. Procession explores the ritual of moving together in formation and celebrates the power of performance. Featuring a newly arranged Baroque-inspired score infused with a modern touch\, Procession is a bold and captivating commission that reflects the company’s spirit of creativity under the leadership of Hope Muir\, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director. \nPrepare to be moved!

SUMMARY:HYL: "Song Rapper"
DESCRIPTION:HYL’s music falls somewhere between song and colourful electro-pop rap. His lyrics shape melodies reminiscent of Orelsan\, Gaël Faye\, or the infectious energy of Thérapie TAXI\, striking a balance between carefree and aware. \nIn 2024\, he released a second EP that reflects the influences that inspire his art. Produced at the La Tanière studio (Bigflo & Oli\, among others)\, this new\, assured vision transports us into stories and emotions we all seem to have experienced before. HYL will be at the NAC for one night only. A must-see!

SUMMARY:Diana Krall
DESCRIPTION:Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date\, her albums have garnered two Grammy® Awards\, ten Juno® Awards and have also earned nine gold\, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. Krall’s unique artistry transcends any single musical style and has made her one of the most recognizable artists of our time.  As The New York Times recently noted\, Krall possesses “A voice at once cool and sultry\, wielded with a rhythmic sophistication.” \nHer most recent release\, This Dream Of You\, has garnered critical acclaim from fans and press alike. This album is a loving conclusion of Diana’s 25-year working relationship with Tommy LiPuma. Shortly before LiPuma’s passing\, the producer and artist discussed the abundance of great music recorded at their last sessions together. LiPuma was adamant that this music should be completed and issued. Krall and engineer\, Al Schmitt\, therefore mixed and sequenced the album for the 2020 release and\, as such\, honoured their great and much-missed friend.  From this release came the worldwide premiere of Autumn In New York\, a cinematic ode to the city\, directed by Diana’s long-time collaborator and friend Mark Seliger\, offering a visual complement to Krall’s loving and hopeful performance of the song. \nDiana Krall’s recordings have been included in several film soundtracks and she has expanded upon her role as a performer to include songwriting\, producing and arranging and has brought her talents to collaborate with many other artists including Paul McCartney\, Barbra Streisand and Tony Bennett.  She tours extensively around the globe to sold-out audiences\, appearing at premiere jazz festivals and concert halls throughout North America\, Europe\, Asia and Australia.
