Ottawa Little Theatre Presents: Kimberly Akimbo

April 8 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

It’s not an April Fool’s joke! Kimberly Akimbo, the original play that inspired the Tony Award winning
Best Musical, comes to the Ottawa Little Theatre in a throwback production directed by Chelsey Prince.
Written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Pulitzer Prize winner for Rabbit Hole and writer of Shrek the Musical),
Kimberly Akimbo blends razor-sharp humour with genuine warmth. The result is a wildly entertaining
story full of eccentric relatives, questionable life advice, and teenage mischief.

Teenaged Kimberly is coping with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, an ex-con aunt planning
the ultimate scam, and the possibility of first love with her nerdy high school classmate, all while
negotiating her own mortality as a rare condition causes her to age five times faster than normal.
“It’s a show that sneaks up on you,” says Prince. “You come for the comedy, which there is a lot of, but
you leave thinking about how precious and strange life really is.” Expect big laughs, surprising twists, and
a story that is as heartfelt as it is hilarious.

Whether you’re a fan of clever comedies, character-driven stories, or simply enjoy a night at the theatre
that lingers with you long after the curtain falls, Kimberly Akimbo promises an evening that’s funny, raw,
and wonderfully human.
